This chapter defines visual literacy, explores potential visual needs across subject disciplines, discusses search strategies for images, describes potential roles for academic librarians related to visual literacy, discusses ethical concerns regarding images, lists visual literacy competencies and selected resources on visual literacy, and indicates where to locate images.
